Rheinauenweg, Kehl - Weil am Rhein, 160 km, 7 days

The path we are talking about here, runs on the western side of the Black Forest, along the Rhine. The start of the path is in Kehl, just a few kilometers north of Basel. The path follows the river – which is fully navigalbe here, on the German side, till Weil am Rhein, opposite Strasbourg.

The path is one of the many hiking trails Rhine. Along the middle reaches of the Rhine, in the direction of Mannheim, there is also a Rheinauenweg. Our impression is that this path is not frequented very often. The Rheinhöhenweg and especially the Rheinsteig are more popular, and largely use the same roads and tracks.
