Circular trail around Edmonton, 309 km

The Waskahegan Trail is a more or less circular trail with head and tail in Edmonton, Alberta. It is a wilderness trail for hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. The path exists since 1990; it's history goes back to 1967. The wikipedia contains an impressive list of wildlife that you may encounter on your journey. Partly, the path passes through agricultural land (where you will find typical English stiles). Elsewhere, the trail ventures into vast and empty nature areas where you are advised not to travel alone.
